Developmental Courage

I had to complete some mandatory on-line training at work. The training is usually pretty awful. But something interesting jumped out at me....

***Developmental Courage***

The training module began with the phrase "Developmental Courage" and stated that a person with this attribute will value learning more than comfort. They are willing to risk public failure, deep frustration, and the repeated hopelessness of being at wit's end all in the name of building new skills, awareness or knowledge.

It was a tango 'ah ha' moment for me.
Right in the middle of my on-line training.

I can't let this temporary set back discourage me completely. It's time to hit the hardwood with a new goal in mind with a new focus. I'm grateful (no matter how uncomfortable it was to hear) for the information my tango mentor shared with me. Now it's time to put in some work, with new shoes, and really get down to brass tacks.

My mentor suggested an instructor that is close to my home that I could consider. I will stop in and have a look, take a lesson, and see what new pearls of wisdom I can glean.

From this I discovered a new fire for tango. I feel strong and healthy. I'm ready to stretch my legs and really challenge myself and see what happens.

Will I mess up - - yes, but mistakes are the fuel for the best stories.

Ciao,
Pantina

Your blog is inspiring. I'm a tango beginner myself, I'm Chilean, I live in Chile, in a small city in the South. I moved here for work and looked for a tango bar / class for 2 years before I found the one I currently attend. I'm as motivated as you were when you first started blogging (I read your earliest entries). And I thank you for sharing your experience, I've learned a lot! Un gran abrazo!
