PSA - - How to Identify a Mature Tanguera
1. A Mature Tanguera Knows Her Music: A mature tanguera will not only know the difference between milonga, tango, and vals but she will also be able to identify orchestras. She has an understanding of music and how to interact with it.
2. A Mature Tanguera is Able to Say 'No Thank You': No more saying 'yes' to every person that approaches her for a dance. No more struggling through being pushed, pulled and man handled on the hardwood. She is able to smile, make eye contact, and say (confidently) 'No, thank you'.
3. A Mature Tanguera Knows It's Not About Quantity of Tandas: A mature tanguera doesn't make notches on her CiFs to keep track of how many tandas she dances in a night. She watches and waits for the opportunity to dance with a tanguero that she feels will be a good (perhaps great) lead for a particular tanda.
4. A Mature Tanguera Dresses Age Appropriately: I can't say it enough... If you're a woman of a 'certain age' you can not, CAN NOT, compete with a fit 20-something dressed in dental floss and cobwebs. The hot 20-something will always beat you in the revealing dressing category. Even if your body is a pilates sculpted work of perfection the 20-something's wrinkle free skin and YOUTH will catch eyes and turn heads.
However when a woman is confident, elegantly attired, and understands music and movement she doesn't need to make herself look foolish by attempting to roll back the hands of time. The basic fact is this - - Forever 21 is myth....
'nuff said
5. A Mature Tanguera Knows Her Strengths & Weaknesses: She knows that her boleos are INCREDIBLE but that she needs to work on her over-rotated ochos. She's willing to put in the work to become a better dancer.
6. A Mature Tanguera Doesn't Over Embellish: Really. Seriously. You need to self boleo at every opportunity?!? Out of sync toe taps, dancing every beat and pause... A mature tanguera knows what works and how to make the movement beautiful and uniquely hers.
7. A Mature Tanguera Mentors Baby Tangueras: When a baby tanguera approaches her with a question (or offers a complement) she is gracious.
Here's to maturity!

Oh I've been thinking about these very things a whole lot lately. Thank you for summarizing so well what's been on my mind lol!
Good one Pantina. One more thing though, even some young-ish women could stand to dress a little less, ummm, o.k....slutty?
And if I see anymore metallic gold or silver tights...
Thank you Patina, well said. Elegance is about understatement and being elegant in tango is something to aspire to.
